DEAN SMITH

Coach Legend

"I wasn't trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right."

Dean Smith was a very special college basketball coach who was and continues to be admired by so many people. He had a great impact on his players and on his students. He has a total of 879 wins and two national titles, his wins were surpassed but he is ranked 9th place in college basketball wins. I believe he has a great impact on everyone who is interested in this sport, not only that but anyone who is able to define good character. He was a very humble man he did all that is done just to do the right thing and as he did following his own conscious. Long after his players had graduated he continued to yearly write them a letter to keep in touch. He was a great man and truly inspirational. He thought of himself unworthy of the items others wanted to name after him. After each win he would console the other coach before celebrating and congratulating his own team. His players did not only see him as a coach but as a father figure as well. He was looked up upon by the majority of people he knew. He was truly loved by all

Karma will take care of itself.

" It's not about how to achieve your dreams. It's about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the RIGHT WAY, the karma (destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you." -Dr. Randy Pausch

The quote and the speech in general was very inspirational and made to come a whole lot of sense. Everything said had a point well given and dearly explained. This has inspired me to always to be best for me and for the people i love. No one is pure evil although certain people will come off that way it is for your own interest to stick around to see who they really are. Always do good out of your own will because at the end of that day that is all that really matters. Being known for being a good person is worth much more than being known for a bad life. In general any obstacle in your way is made for you to see your way out of it and pursue it if that is really what you want. Just like Dr. Randy Pausch said the brick walls are not there to keep you from doing what you want they are there so you can work for whatever is it you want. Living a right life is the way of leading your life. Dr. Randy Pausch only had a few months to live and he continued lived the right way having fun every other day he had.

Educating the body, mind, and character

"Of all the work that is done or that can be done for our country, the greatest is that educating the body, the mind, and above all the character, giving spiritual and moral training to those who in a few years are themselves to design the destinies of the nation."

-Theodore Roosevelt

Theodore says these great wise words and they do nothing but help us and encourage us to do good because we are the future and the future depends on us to be made great once more. It is very important that we are healthy in the three ways to function the correct way and to do things how they are meant to be done. Being healthy is not just good for your physical health but for your mental health, and your spiritual health. Having the correct way of thinking and doing things is just another step to success and there is not much needed for that, all you need is to follow your way to success. To be successful for should always live by the rules, rules and rules for a reason and they have a meaning. To be kind and responsible will give other the impression that you  are a great citizen which you are. Always be the best you can be because of you are not the best someone else will and you will fall back behind them knowing you could have accomplished what they did. Never let anyone tell you what you could or cannot do because no one knows the answer to that but you after you have tried it. To believe in yourself is very important because if you are not on yourself no one will be. The person to lead you into being successful is you, no one else but you. To whom it is very important to have a healthy mind, body, and character is who will be most successful and bring greatness not only to themselves but to the ones standing by their side.

"Take your responsibility for your own body, mind, and spirit, for your own physical, mental, and spiritual well-being." -Mr. C.S. Haymore

Mr Haymore always says things that will encourage you to always doing greater and going bigger for yourself. He is a role model for every student he comes across. He teaches you to always do good things for yourself and everyone around you. Never to let yourself fall for peer pressure. I believe his words and all that comes from him, his way of thinking always makes sense and makes you feel you can always to the right thing without doing anything wrong. He explains how CTR is always easier than CTW. As long as you CTR everything will fal into its place and you will be glad you chose to do the right thing.

LAUSD Student Services

LAUSD is the second largest district in the nation. This district allows many students to graduate high school and peruse into their careers. Alone this district contains over 900 schools. It provides good teachers, variety of multi-raced students, and a safe environment. Schools within this district require their students to meet the A-G college prep courses. The schools also offer alternative classes such as elective so the students have a wider knowledge of things that come within learning. LAUSD offers a lot and in my opinion it is a great district. This district is a CTR district.

"Intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education."

This quote said by Dr. Martin Luther King is like the meaning of life. This education quote is what everyone needs to succeed in their education and in their life. Being smart is one thing but having character is another. Each is great individually but put together is what you need. See of this as a bicycle the front wheel is Intelligence and the back wheel is Character you would need both wheels to be properly inflated to be able to use it the way it supposed to be used. To succeed in life you would need both of your wheels to be inflated correctly to get where you would like to be, if not then your wheels would just take you half way or even less due to the lack of either intelligence or character.

Neonatologist
Duties and responsibilities: A neonatologist is a pediatrician who specializes in treating newborn infants. When babies are born prematurely, with a birth defect or with a serious illness, a neonatologist may assist with the delivery and attend to the newborn’s medical needs.
Salary: $236,503
Education: A neonatologist must complete four years of undergraduate school, four years of medical school, and fourteen years of training.

Reflection: This job seems very interesting. I would possibly go for it because it deals with newborns whose lives are at risk. Then again I don’t find myself working at a place like this. It doesn’t occur to me to work in the medical field. Helping people is great but dealing with birth and having a risk of people dying in front of me is something I don’t want to be part of. Things in life change and honestly this job would not be so bad.

"We need the courage to START and CONTINUE what we should do, and the courage to STOP what we shouldn't do"                                 -Richard L. Evans

Courage is everything. courage is what leads you into doing something and feeling good about it. To encourage people to start doing something to cause a positive impact is needed, a lot and everywhere. It takes a lot to try and encourage others to put a stop to something. Many people will not do anything. Most would think no one will follow or help them achieve what they are trying to reach, and in most cases that is true. Nowadays people would rather ignore everything and live their life as they normally would. Others believe in saving the world. Due to the fact that everyone things different will make things harder to be heard or harder to encourage people to make a change. Courage is what leads to success.
Orthodontist
Duties and responsibilities: Orthodontists are dentists who specialize in the treatment and prevention of dental irregularities.
Salary: $196,270
Education: Has to receive a PhD, and be licensed.

Reflection: I would not study to become an orthodontist because I have no interest in people’s teeth. I have no interest in people or helping them in any way. This to me seems as a job that could be important but not one that we cannot live without. This could be a great job for someone with a different mind. We all have different interest and this is by far one of my least.

"When you tell one lie. it leads to another"

-Paul Hatch

Telling lies is wrong, whatever the lie is it is wrong. If you are a CTR person you do not lie and you encourage others not to either. A lie will do nothing for you. Telling a lie will lead to more lies just to back up the first lie you told. That is digging your own grave and the more lies you tell is the deeper you go. A lie is not only bad because the other will have wrong information but its bad for yourself as well. Each lie is like a layer of guilt, and to tell one lie will only lead to telling more once you're aware of whats going on you will have layers of guilt building up on your conscience. When you have this awful feeling of guilt you being to harm yourself with these awful feelings. It will bother you until you decide to CTR and reveal the truth. One simple lie can be turned into something far more than expected.

School Break Days

During winter break I was able to spend quality time with my friends and family. I went to a couple of my friends homes to hangout. I went to the movies. I practiced a few tricks with my dog. I went ice skating. I taught my younger brother and cousins the meaning of CTR and ways for them to follow the steps into becoming CTR people. During Christmas family and family friends gathered together to celebrate Christmas as a whole. Its a great holiday i just find it really boring, although i believe that is because of my age. New Years was great as well. A nice holiday spent well with the ones you love. One CTR experience that i had was encouraging others into being a part or choosing the right. I did not do any homework over the break because i hate school and that reminded me of school. Other than that i had a very productive winter break.
